Last week I made a mistake. Some people reacted aggressively towards me, and others with empathy and compassion. As a parent, I am inviting you to observe yourself when your child makes a mistake.
How do you react?
What do you say?
What triggers get activated in you?
Also, let’s think about what we teach our children about repairing or learning from a mistake. How do WE, the adults, turn a mistake into a learning opportunity? What do we say in the moment?
I leave you today with this: we, adults, make mistakes every day, and we must be humbled by our human limitations. Unrealistic expectations of near “perfection” from our children are unjustified.
Let’s stay humble.
