From Self-Denial to Self-Awareness (Happy Easter 2025)

There is no coming to consciousness without pain.” (Carl Jung)

For this year’s Easter edition, I invite you to ask yourself:

What does Easter mean to me? What could Easter mean for all of us?

Metaphysically, Christ’s resurrection story is about spiritual rebirth, enlightenment, and transcendence. It tells us that there is more to life than the physical body, and that the soul is eternal. It teaches us that we can all rise from our own personal limitations and adversities, and emerge stronger and more resilient. Also, it is important to understand that the message of Christ’s resurrection is not limited to any particular religion or belief system. The metaphysical meaning of this story transcends all boundaries and speaks to the universal human experience of suffering and growth. ” (Unity Williamsburg Spiritual Center)

FROM SELF-DENIAL TO SELF-AWARENESS
In my work with women, I get to see commonalities and patterns of behavior across religions, age, ethnicities and social status. It is a real privilege to have a microscopic view of the Human Mind, where all the drama is being played… The default mode for most women is self-denial, sacrifice and even self-abuse. Of course, none of this is consciously decided upon,  or intentional. Unfortunately, women all over the world are still paying a high price for the social conditioning of becoming “good girls”. It starts early… very early… Before the age 3 (preverbal stage of psychological development), most little girls have heard “You’re such a good girl! Be a good girl!” more times than they’ve heard their own name. Parents are not ill-intended, just uneducated and unaware. Ignorance is not bliss, as I hope you would agree.

Easter for me is about the growth process that takes us, women, from self-denial to self-awareness; POWER comes from self-awareness and personal responsibility. We have to move from being “the victim” of our circumstances to being the Creator of our experiences, for ourselves and our children because they are watching us.
